A classical foundation helps improve all styles of playing. Often taken together with Singing or Theory lessons for more advanced students (60 min or 90 min). Typically, students start as early as six years old, depending on hand size, coordination, and cooperative spirit. Students will learn:
- Scales and drills to improve strength, endurance, and familiarity
- Songs from many genres to expand horizons and options
- Focus on the student's preferred genre -- Jazz, Classical, Pop, Blues, etc...
- How to improvise and play by ear
- How to read traditional music notation
- How to interpolate charts and lead sheets
The more mature your musicianship and focus becomes, the more time is needed to cover all the content in one lesson. Weekly 45-60 minute lessons are most typical.
